Hello Everyone! Please join us for our February Program!
“The Challenge of Seeing,”
featuring Kathy Gergo, will be an exciting members-only VAA
opportunity to see Kathy evaluate and offer suggestions on current
works by selected local artists. Each artist featured will bring two
works, one successful and one with challenges, to be evaluated by
Kathy in her studio while everyone attending has the chance to learn.
Kathy brings great experience and
knowledge to this program. A native of Hungary whose art studies at
the University of Budapest were interrupted by the 1956 revolution,
Kathy arrived in the United States and enrolled at the Cleveland
Institute of Art in 1961. She moved to New Orleans and supplemented
her studies by taking courses at Tulane and workshops with some of
the country’s finest watercolor teachers. Since becoming a
professional artist in 1974, Kathy has taught watercolor, given
workshops, lectured, and served as juror for numerous art
organizations. In 1986 she became a faculty member of the New
Orleans Academy of Fine Art.
Kathy moved to Vicksburg in the wake of
Katrina and now makes it her home. She has graciously offered her
hospitality and talent in helping other artists as the program for
the Vicksburg Art Association on February 7 in her studio, beginning at 7 pm. If anyone is interested in being
one of the featured artists, please contact Linda Hall at
601-994-4618 or
pigoleta@yahoo.com.
Timing and seating have limited the number receiving this evaluation
to twelve, so please respond quickly. And, of course, every member is
welcome to come and participate by observing only.
Please join us for “The Challenge of
Seeing” at seven on February seventh!
