Spring Show Plans Set

      

Janet Akers, co-chair of the Spring Members Show, has released the following information:

When: April 23 - 27, 2005

Where: Constitution Firehouse Gallery, 1204 Main (at Openwood Street).

Who: The Show is open to all members of the Vicksburg Art Association who are 18 years or older. (Dues are $15 for 9/04 - 8/05).

Entry: $10 for up to five pieces, with a maximum of 3 pieces in any one category.

Categories: Oil; Acrylic; Fiber; Photo-Mono; 3 Dimensional; Drawing; Print;
Photo-Color; Watercolor; Mixed Media.

Eligibility: All work must be original to the entering artist. Copies of other works, any work made from commercial kits, molds, or designs will not be accepted.

All entries must have been completed within the past two years.

Works entered in a previous VAA competitive show are not eligible.

All work on paper must be framed and wired for hanging.

Pieces with sawtooth hangers or exposed glass edges will not be accepted.

All work on canvas must be framed, stripped or have finished edges and be wired for hanging.

All 3-dimensional work must be stable and capable of being moved by two people.

Awards: Three Best in Show awards: First $200, Second $75, and Third $50. Ribbons may be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place and Honorable Mention in each category at the judge's discretion. Three “People’s Choice” Awards will also be awarded based on voting by reception attendees.

Sales: The Vicksburg Art Association will retain a 15% commission on all sales.

Special Category... The VAA is honoring our own Jean Blue with a retrospective show and tribute next month. As an appetizer, we are adding a one time only category: Something Blue.

In addition to the maximum five entries for competition, artists may enter one more piece in any medium, related to the theme: Something Blue. These will be exhibited together and will not be judged. A “Something Blue People’s Choice Award” will be given. Entry may be for sale or not.

An added $2 fee will be charged for entry in the “Something Blue” category.

*Work left beyond this date will be subject to a $1 per day fee.
