What: The Vicksburg Art Association Members' Show – Fall 2007

When: Oct 27 –31,2007

Where: Constitution Firehouse Gallery, 1204 Main (at Openwood Street)

Who: The Show is open to all artists at least 18 years old who are VAA members or residents of Mississippi (Basic dues are $15 for 9/07 - 8/08)

The Vicksburg Art Association is holding the Annual Fall Show Saturday Oct 27th through Wednesday, Oct 31st, 2007 in the historic Old Constitution Firehouse on the corner of Main and Openwood in Downtown Vicksburg.

All artists who are members of the Vicksburg Art Association (VAA) or are Mississippi residents 18 years or older are invited to participate in the Fall Art Show. This show is a great opportunity for artists at all levels to submit their work, test the waters, and see what other budding artists in Mississippi are doing. The entry fee for VAA members is $15 for up to three pieces. New members must pay a $15 membership fee in addition to the entry fee. Each artist may enter a total of three (3) pieces in the following categories: oil, watercolor, acrylic, drawing, mixed-media, fiber, computer graphics, photograph-monochrome, photograph-color, and three dimensional. All work must be original to the entering artist and must be for sale. Registration is from 2 - 4pm on Saturday, Oct 20th and from 4 – 6pm on Monday, Oct 22nd.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception Saturday night, Oct 27th at
8:00 pm, to view the art and meet the artists and other art-lovers. All artwork will be on display and open to the public for viewing on:

Awards will be announced on Saturday Oct 27th at the reception. There will be one Best in Show award of $500.00. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place and Honorable Mention in each category at the judge's discretion.

Cold Casting Workshop comng...

      

COLD CASTING JEWELRY

The Vicksburg Art Association will offer a hands-on cold casting jewelry class November 3rd and 4th from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Firehouse Gallery. Class will break for lunch and participates are encouraged to bring their own sack lunch and drinks. The instructor, Dell Clark, studied metalsmithing in England, Brighton Polytechnic and West Dean College. His jewelry designs tend to be non-complex and more to the earthy, primitive side of nature.

Various ways will be demonstrated and taught to trap, capture and present stones, beads, and other found objects. Participants will learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings and other wearable art.

The classes are open to the public and no jewelry experience is required. Class fees are $65.00 for members of the Vicksburg Art Association and $70 for non-members.
