January Program, Southern Graphics Council’s Traveling Print Exhibition
The January 2007 meeting of the Vicksburg Art Association is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th, 2007, at 7:30 pm in the historic Old Constitution Firehouse on the corner of Main and Openwood in Downtown Vicksburg.
This meeting will focus on prints in the juried traveling print exhibition of the Southern Graphics Council which the VAA is hosting for the January meeting. Mr. Ed O’Neil, a printmaker by avocation, will host the program. He will conduct a walking tour of the 34 prints in the exhibition describing the various printmaking techniques, media and styles used by the artists in the exhibition as well as discuss the artistic content of several prints displayed. Mr. O’Neil has been an active member of the Southern Graphics Council for over twenty years. It is the largest regional printmaking council in North America. The Southern Graphics Council is responsible for advancing the professional standing of artists who make original prints, drawings, books, and hand-made paper. These works will be on display from 6:30 pm through the end of the program January 9th and the Firehouse Gallery will be open for viewing the show during the following times:
Saturday January 13th and Sunday January 14th, 1 – 5pm
Saturday January 20th and Sunday January 21st, 1 – 5pm
Wednesday January 10th, 4 - 6pm
Wednesday, January 17th , 4 - 6pm
